Here’s a quick project, creating an interactive IV curve simulator. Move the sliders to try it out!

This is based on the Shockley diode equation

\[ I_D = I_S \left(e^{\frac{V_D}{n V_T}} - 1 \right) \] using the thermal voltage \(V_T = \frac{kT}{q} \), the Boltzmann constant \(k\), and the elementary charge \(q\).

Interactive plots are the first thing I google for whenever I’m exploring new physics equations. However, often it’s hard to find anything! Hence, my first foray into making semiconductor physics more interactive, starting with a simple diode.

This is the first time I’ve used Html5 and/or Javascript - however, I used the amazing powers of ChatGPT 3.5. I started this yesterday, and in total this took me around 4 hours. Not too bad for a complete beginner. Initially ChatGPT suggested coding the entire plot from scratch using Html5. However, this turned very buggy when either I or ChatGPT attempted to make adjustments to the plot. Hence, I switched to Chart.js for the plotting engine, and voilà.
